| | | | 10) | We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. |
| 11) | Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; |
| 12) | And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: |
| 13) | Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. |

| | 6) | But godliness with contentment is great gain. |
| 7) | For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. |
| 8) | And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. |
| 9) | But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. |
| 10) | For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. |
| 17) | Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; |
| 18) | That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; |
| 19) | Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. |

| | 1) | My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. |
| 2) | For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; |
| 3) | And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: |
| 4) | Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? |
| 5) | Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? |
| 6) | But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? |
| 7) | Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? |
| 8) | If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: |
| 9) | But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. |

| | 1) | From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? |
| 2) | Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. |
| 3) | Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. |
| 4) | Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. |
| 5) | Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? |
| 6) | But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. |
| 7) | Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. |
| 8) | Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. |

| | 3) | And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. |
| 4) | He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. |
| 5) | But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. |
| 6) | He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. |
| 15) | Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. |
| 16) | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. |
| 17) | And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. |
