| | | 34) | And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. |
| 35) | For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. |
| 36) | For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? |
| 37) | Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? |

| | 9) | Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. |
| 10) | So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. |

| | 23) | And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; |
| 24) | Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. |

| | 14) | Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. |
| 15) | And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. |

| | 3) | That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. |
| 5) | This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. |
| 6) | If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: |
| 7) | But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. |
| 8) | If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. |
| 9) | If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
| 10) | If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. |
