| About the Church | | An Epitomized Statement of Faith of a Member of the Restoration Christian Fellowship
1. I believe that the true and simple Gospel of Christ was restored in 1823-1829
2. I believe that the true authority of the ministry authorized through the Restoration, and individually acquired since then through a call from God, is retained by those true to God in word and deed.
3. I believe that the baptisms of the truly authorized ministry are from Heaven and not of men, and that the call of this ministry is of God and not from institutions; and that wherever there is a congregation of members thus baptized, among whom there is one of the ministry, there the Church of Christ exists, with power of extension as long as they labor in accord with the teachings of Christ.
4. I believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ as they are found in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon, which is another witness for Christ.
5. I believe that the teachings of Christ include a belief in the following:
a. In God as the Eternal Father; in Jesus Christ His Son as the savior of the world; and in the Holy Ghost as our comforter and guide.
b. In the atonement of Christ through which all men may be saved by obedience to the Gospel.
c. In the first principles of the Gospel as the first steps towards salvation, as follows:
i. Faith, which is the assurance of things hoped for and which is acquired through effort.
ii. Repentance, which in brief means, to cease to do evil and to learn to do well.
iii. Baptism by immersion to fulfill all righteousness.
iv. Baptism of the Holy Spirit, received by the contrite and meek and conferred by the laying on of hands.
d. In other ordinances such as, the blessing of children, administering to the sick, marriage and the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.
e. In the gifts of the Spirt, such as wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues and interpretation.
f. In the ministration of Angels to those who are heirs of salvation.
g. In continuous revelation from God unfolding His will and pervading the body of Christ.
h. In the resurrection of the just and the unjust in their order.
i. In eternal judgment, here and hereafter.
j. In the reign of Christ upon earth in which all of the faithful shall be “gathered” in one fold under one shepherd.
6. I believe that the organic form of the New Covenant Church provides for the building up of congregations called churches, exercising local self-government, in which elders, priests and teachers, called of God as an equal ministry, serve the people.
7. I believe that all of the independent churches are united in love by the invisible tie of the Spirit of God, and under the leadership of Christ, who is the invisible Head, and the only Head of His Church; and that the ministry of itinerant ministers is essential to the unity of all of the independent churches, whom they serve only as advisors and counselors.
8. I believe that the chief and foremost endeavor of the church is missionary work.
9. I believe that only those who have witnessed true repentance to the church and who have obeyed the ordinances, are eligible to membership in the church.
10. I believe that for the time being the needs of the poor and the ministry should be supplied through free-will offerings. |
