James 1:22-27
22)But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23)For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24)For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25)But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26)If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27)Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Matthew 16:24-27
24)Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25)For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26)For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27)For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

1 John 3:6,8-21
6)Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
8)He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9)Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10)In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11)For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12)Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13)Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14)We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15)Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16)Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17)But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18)My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19)And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20)For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21)Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

3)According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4)Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5)And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6)And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7)And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8)For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9)But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10)Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11)For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
