| | | 22) | But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. |
| 23) | For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: |
| 24) | For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. |
| 25) | But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. |
| 26) | If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. |
| 27) | Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. |

| | 24) | Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. |
| 25) | For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. |
| 26) | For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? |
| 27) | For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. |

| 10) | In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. |
| 11) | For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
| 12) | Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. |
| 13) | Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. |
| 14) | We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. |
| 15) | Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. |
| 16) | Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. |
| 17) | But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? |
| 18) | My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. |
| 19) | And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. |
| 20) | For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. |
| 21) | Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. |

| | 3) | According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: |
| 4) | Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. |
| 5) | And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; |
| 6) | And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; |
| 7) | And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. |
| 8) | For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 9) | But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. |
| 10) | Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: |
| 11) | For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |
