| | | 3) | And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. |
4) | He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. |
5) | But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. |
6) | He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. |
15) | Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. |
16) | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. |
17) | And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. |

| 13) | Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: |
14) | Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. |
15) | For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. |

| 9) | And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: |
10) | Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. |
11) | The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. |
12) | I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. |
13) | And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. |
14) | I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. |
|
|
|
| 15) | And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. |
|
|
|
| 17) | But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. |
18) | For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. |
